Qualifying in 1979, Robert, along with two partners, set up his own practice focusing on owner managed and family owned businesses in the SME market.
With a belief that professional service organisations should understand both the business and personal aims of clients, and proactively offer advice and support to help achieve these, Robert has been involved in all aspects of strategic planning and tax advice, helping many businesses develop from small companies through to sale.
In 2005 the Montpelier Group was formed when Robert joined forces with Watkin Gittins and David Yelloly, forming a truly global financial strategy business.
Today, Robert continues to help small and medium sized family and owner managed business by virtue of the collective resources, expertise and knowledge within the Group
Over the years Robert has also been heavily involved in the profession itself, including as a council member of the ACCA, past president of the Manchester and District (ACCA) Society, past president of the Practice Society, serving on various committees with the ACCA and the Auditing Practices Board (APB), and an external examiner for the ACCA examinations at Liverpool John Moores University.
